2022 — 30th November In respect of any motion or any bill under consideration on report or any Lords amendment to a bill, the Speaker shall have power to select the amendments, new clauses or new schedules to be proposed thereto.

First appearance

1919 — 20th February In respect of any motion or any bill under consideration either in committee of the whole house or on report, Mr. Speaker, or in committee the chairman of ways and means, and the deputy chairman, shall have power to select the new clauses or amendments to be proposed, and may, if he thinks fit, call upon any member who has given notice of an amendment to give such explanation of the object of the amendment as may enable him to form a judgement upon it.
