<p>Government is committed to meeting the UK target under the Renewable Energy Directive 2009/28/EC which requires 15% of our energy consumption to come from renewable sources by 2020. Actions to help achieve this are described in the UK Renewable Energy Roadmap<Sup>1</Sup> which was published in 2011, and updated in2012<Sup>2</Sup> and2013<Sup>3</Sup>.</p><p>Member states are also required under Article 22 of the Renewable Energy Directive to submit reports to the European Commission every two years on their progress in the promotion and use of energy from renewable sources.
