Community-scale renewable energy forms a key part of the Department's large programmes. There are 71.5 staff based in the Office for Renewable Energy Deployment, and an additional team working on the renewable heat incentive. Within these wider programmes, a core team of four people focuses on community-scale renewable energy, with additional assistance from specialists on science and engineering, economics and social research. In developing the electricity market reform proposals we are giving consideration to all scales of generation. In addition to drawing on the internal expertise outlined above, we are working with the Distributed Energy Contact Group to understand their views of the new arrangements, and how these can support community-scale schemes. |
