<p>This Government is clear that no one should be without a roof over their head. That is why we have committed to end rough sleeping by the end of this Parliament and to enforce the Homelessness Reduction Act.</p><p>The Government has already taken important steps to prevent and reduce homelessness and rough sleeping. This includes implementing the most ambitious legislative reform in this area in decades, the Homelessness Reduction Act, which is transforming the culture of homelessness service delivery and actively prevents homelessness, meaning people will get the help they need quicker.</p><p>The Government has already committed over £1.2 billion to tackle homelessness and rough sleeping over the spending review period to April 2020. In 2020/2021 we are providing a further £422 million to tackle homelessness and rough sleeping. This marks a £54 million increase on what Government provided in 2019/20. On 23 December 2019, we announced that £263 million of this will be allocated to local authorities in the form of the Flexible Homelessness Support Grant and the Homelessness Reduction Grant in order to support local authorities reduce homelessness.</p><p>In September 2019, this Government launched a second year of the Cold Weather Fund, making up to £10 million available. On 23 December 2019, we committed an extra £3 million to the fund to support as many people as possible this winter. This fund is available to all local authorities to provide a robust, local response to support rough sleepers off the streets prior to the winter period. The funding will be available until the end of March 2020 and will build on the success of last year’s Cold Weather Fund.</p>
