I understand that Gwent police force has redesigned the way that its communities can access services in order to best meet people's busy and changing lifestyles. The force's plans for new service provision and accessibility are intended to match community needs and are part of an ongoing programme to deliver an efficient and accessible 21st century police force.Decisions about the most effective use of available resources, including the numbers and operating hours of police stations, are a matter for the chief constable and police authority to take locally. The Government however are clear that they want to see police officers on the streets, preventing and cutting crime, rather than behind their desks. Policing today reaches people through many means, not just police stations. |
