<p>The Government is taking significant steps to encourage businesses to reduce their energy demand. Minimum energy efficiency standards are in place for the non-domestic rented sector, currently EPC E, and the Government has consulted on strengthening this. Furthermore, under the Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme, qualifying businesses must undertake energy audits and are encouraged to make energy efficiency improvements.</p><p> </p><p>Existing incentives include an exemption on business rates for green technology, providing small business grants under the Boiler Upgrade Scheme, offering industry £289m for energy efficiency and low carbon technologies, and providing tax discounts via the Climate Change Agreements scheme.</p><p> </p><p>The Government has also launched a new Energy Efficiency Taskforce to help achieve its target to reduce our energy consumption from buildings and industry by 15% by 2030.</p>
