	answer text	<p>Following last year's Call for Evidence, in December 2022 the Government introduced a registration scheme for short-term lets in England in the Levelling Up and Regeneration Bill. On 12 April 2023, a <a href="https://www.gov.uk/government/consultations/consultation-on-a-registration-scheme-for-short-term-lets-in-england" target="_blank">consultation</a> was published which seeks views on details about how the scheme will operate. The consultation closes on 7 June 2023 and the Government will then analyse the responses.</p><p>The Department for Culture, Media and Sport will work with the relevant Government departments, including HMRC and HM Treasury, on the design of the registration scheme and to ensure that different measures which apply to short-term lets are proportionate, complementary and easy to understand.</p>
