<p>There are currently no plans for such an assessment as paying childcare costs directly to childcare providers could undermine a key principle of the design of Universal Credit.</p><p> </p><p>Universal Credit is designed to reflect the world of work and is paid as a monthly lump sum. The aim is for households to make their decisions in the same way as those in working households who are not on benefits, including decisions on things such as hours of work, spending and childcare.</p><p> </p><p>The majority of claimants can, and do, manage their childcare payments effectively.</p> |
