<p>The Department for Business, Innovation and Skills has commissioned academic research into the impact of investor-state dispute settlement within the context of wider investment protection treaties. This research is intended to inform the UK position with regard to the upcoming investment treaties being negotiated by the EU.</p><p>The research commissioned included a framework to analyse the costs and benefits of investment protection treaties as a whole and use of the framework to assess the inclusion of investor-state dispute settlement provisions within the proposed EU agreements with China and with the US (the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership). A copy of this research will be placed in the Libraries of the House.</p>
