	answer text	<p>Once signed, a funding agreement for an academy or free school can be amended only with the consent of both the Secretary of State for Education, my right hon. Friend the Member for Surrey Heath (Michael Gove) and the academy trust. The academy trust may apply to the Secretary of State for Education to change its funding agreement, for example to change the age range or to enlarge the academy's premises. In certain circumstances the Secretary of State may also encourage academy trusts to amend their funding agreements.</p>
