<p>By the end of the programme (July 2009—March 2011) over one million children (60% girls) were supported to complete pre-primary education. Nearly all were enrolled in Grade 1 of Government primary schools. Over 800,000 disadvantaged children received primary education, of whom 47,000 were from ethnic minorities and 18,500 were children with special needs.</p><p>This programme was implemented by BRAC (previously known as Bangladesh Rural Advancement Committee) and supported by the Department for International Development, the Netherlands, Australian agency for</p><p>International Development, Canadian International Development Agency, Oxfam Novib and the United Nations Children's Fund.</p> |
