<p>The Urban Partnership for Poverty Reduction programme (2007 to 2014) will contribute to the development of a National Urban Poverty Reduction Strategy and encourage the local governments to take more responsibility for the urban poor. The outcomes of the programme include improved living conditions and livelihoods for 3 million slum dwellers in Bangladesh, including improved nutrition and access to safe drinking water and sanitation. It also provides skill-based training to youth, linking them to employment opportunities.</p><p>The programme is implemented by the United Nations Development Programme through the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives.</p>
