<p>In 2011, the Government asked Carol Sergeant to chair an independent Simple Financial Products Steering Group, tasked with developing a suite of financial products which are straightforward and easy to understand. The recommendations of this group, along with their recommended suite of simple financial products, were published in the Sergeant Review on 13<Sup />March this year. This is anopportunity for industry to proactively take steps to improvecompetition in savings and protection, by helping consumers to compareproducts and actively engage with the market as well as buildingconsumer trust in the industry. The Government fully expects that thefinancial services industry will recognise these benefits, and look toindustry to make the recommendations in the final Sergeant Reviewreport areality.</p> |
