Mr. Todd: To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will make a statement on (a) the policing of streetpreaching outside North London Central Mosque and (b) monitoring the compliance of views expressed in that preaching with thelaw. [169785]Caroline Flint: The Commissioner of the Police for the Metropolis tells me that the activities outside the Finsbury Park Mosque aremonitored by the Metropolitan police who have a duty to ensure public safety and to prevent crime and disorder. It is an offence touse threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour with intent or likelihood to stir up racial hatred. The police will takeaction where appropriate.
