<p>The Government has made available £16 billion for public health services, including alcohol treatment services, over the current Spending Review period. Decisions on funding for services to treat alcohol misuse are the responsibility of local authorities, based on an assessment of local need. The public health grant conditions make it clear that local authorities must have regard for the need to improve the take up of, and outcomes from, their drug and alcohol misuse treatment services.</p><p> </p><p>Alcohol treatment services are freely available across England and local authorities are supported by Public Health England in the commissioning of high quality, evidence based treatment services to fulfil the needs of their local populations.</p> |
