<p>The Ministry of Justice deals with a large number of cases every year and litigants may rely on arguments based wholly or partly on the Human Rights Act 1998. In most cases, the 1998 Act is relied on in addition to other claims.</p><p>The Treasury Solicitor's Department's records do not historically distinguish between cases where the 1998 Act is invoked from cases where it is not. Consequently, it is not possible to indicate how much the Department has spent on legal advice, representation and support in such cases.</p> |
