The only costs incurred by my Department in the process leading to the decision to grant Preston bus station listed building status were staff time in considering the case. As is standard practice for all listing cases, officials from my Department did not visit Preston bus station prior to the decision to list the building. In 2009 senior staff from the Designation Department of English Heritage, my statutory advisors on the historic environment, carried out a full inspection of the building. This information formed part of their recent Advice Report which was submitted to me, together with images of the building, and other representations received, which enabled me to consider the special architectural and historic interest of the building before reaching a decision.
