<p>Through its Rights and Governance Challenge Fund, DFID supports three Bangladeshi non-governmental organisations working on workers' rights in the ready-made garments industry. Between 2008 and 2013, UK support will enable 180,000 workers in the garments industry to be paid on time and have improved working conditions, through a greater awareness of their rights and better organisation.</p><p>DFID also supports the global Responsible and Accountable Garment Sector (RAGS) Challenge Fund, which funds five projects in Bangladesh to improve the</p><p>condition of vulnerable workers in the ready-made garment sector. Two of these projects have facilitated management-worker participation committees and built awareness of the rights of RMG workers to organise.</p><p>DFID also funds the Ethical Trading Initiative, an alliance of companies, trade unions and voluntary organisations working to improve the working lives of poor and vulnerable people who make or produce consumer goods.</p>
