No specific assessment has been undertaken of the effects of co-location with the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) on decision-making and oversight of the Department for International Development's (DFID's) country programmes. Co-location is the preferred option for both DFID and the FCO. Each co-location proposal is assessed against financial and non-financial criteria with a focus on achieving maximum value for moneyDFID is currently working with other Government Departments with an overseas presence to look at ways the efficiency and effectiveness of corporate services can be improved by merging functions such as transport, security and facilities management.
