<p>The Government intends to implement an exemption for the most electricity intensive industries from some of the costs of contracts for difference, where they pose a significant risk to UK competitiveness, subject to state aid approval.</p><p>The Department for Business, Innovation and Skills concluded its consultation on the exemption eligibility for contracts for difference costs at the end of August. This outlined that the Government's preferred approach is to base exemption on the same criteria as for the compensation scheme for the indirect costs of the carbon price floor.
