Mr. Edward Davey: To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer what is the current energy consumption of his Department; what targets havebeen set to reduce this level; and what plans there are for including energy efficiency performance figures in his Department'sannual report. [52408]Mrs. Liddell: [holding answer 27 July 1998]: The Treasury's energy consumption figures up to and including 1996-97 were incorporatedin the Government estate energy efficiency performance tables which were announced by the Under-Secretary of State for theEnvironment, Transport and the Regions, my hon. Friend for Wallasey (Angela Eagle) to my hon. Friend the Member for Sunderland,North (Mr. Etherington) on 1 April 1998, Official Report, columns 529-30. Energy performance figures for 1997-98 are not yetavailable.The Department supports the Government's target to achieve a 20 per cent. improvement over 1990 levels by 31 March 2000.The Department will consider including energy performance figures in its annual report in the light of core requirements. |
