<p>Methane emissions for each of the last 5 years is set out in the published UK Greenhouse Gas Inventory [<a href="https://eur02.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.gov.uk%2Fgovernment%2Fstatistics%2Ffinal-uk-greenhouse-gas-emissions-national-statistics-1990-to-2021&amp;data=05%7C01%7CParliamentary.PQ%40energysecurity.gov.uk%7Cfd9363873e3c4db0f10e08db6c2ca670%7Ccbac700502c143ebb497e6492d1b2dd8%7C0%7C0%7C638222711304830418%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C3000%7C%7C%7C&amp;sdata=dEhoNhQk4ILRP3iqtHfTAkI9IocOhlRw14yn2ZDC%2BA0%3D&amp;reserved=0" target="_blank">https://www.gov.uk/government/statistics/final-uk-greenhouse-gas-emissions-national-statistics-1990-to-2021</a>] which shows that in 2021 UK methane emissions were 57.0Mt CO2-equivalent, 62% below 1990 levels. The latest projections of UK emissions, provided in the Carbon Budget Delivery Plan, do not include year-by-year estimates to 2030. The approach to methane reduction set out here and in the UK’s Methane Memorandum is consistent with the Government's commitment under the Global Methane Pledge. The global methane pledge is a global reduction target to reduce methane emissions by 30 per cent by 2030 relative to 2020 levels.</p>
