<p>Tackling weapons crime is a priority and the Government is determined to crack down on the scourge of violence devastating our communities. The Government is determined to tackle the underlying causes of serious violence and are redoubling our efforts with a twin-track approach, combining tough enforcement to get dangerous weapons off the streets – including through stop and search methods – with programmes that steer young people away from crime.</p><p>Data on weapons seizures is recorded by police forces and other agencies in the context of their roles and responsibilities and where appropriate this data is published in specific releases.
