<p>[holding answer 13 May 2013]: This Government sees cyber security as an integral part of the process of building government’s ICT systems rather than as an add-on.</p><p>Unfortunately this Government is burdened with legacy ICT systems inherited from the previous Administration. For that reason we are working to reform ICT including through the introduction of new central controls to ensure greater consistency and integration, the creation of a common ICT infrastructure, and the adoption of compulsory open standards.</p><p>Cyber Security is not add-on to systems but it is achieved through a set of measures including personnel and process measures as well as hardware and software protections. The cyber security of Government systems also extends to suppliers and any related supply chain and therefore the costs requested cannot be singled out.</p>
