In May Belfast requested up to £13.46 million as part of its revised Super Connected Cities plan, which aims to bring the benefits of faster and better broadband to small businesses, wireless coverage to the city centre and inside public buildings. DCMS supports this exciting vision for the city. The strategy was approved in June and a conditional funding letter was issued in November. As with all Super Connected City plans, funding is being made available on condition of delivery by the 2015 deadline. DCMS continues to work closely with the city council on the development of its projects as it moves from design to implementation.
