Except for the immediate response to sexual assault, the provision of services for women who have been-victims of violence as for all health services is decided by the local clinical commissioning groups (CCGs). In providing services, CCGs take into account the needs of the population overall. CCGs decisions are underpinned by clinical insight and knowledge of local healthcare needs. NHS England, through its area teams, will be conducting quarterly assurance meetings with CCGs to ensure patients receive high quality services that deliver better outcomes for patients.

NHS England directly commissions sexual assault referral services for victims of sexual violence, and in doing so, works in collaboration with police forces and others in the criminal justice system, local authorities and CCGs with the aim of providing an integrated care pathway.
