<p>The Government has previously carefully considered the introduction of a price cap for off grid fuel customers, however the Department’s analysis indicates that a cap would not be in the long-term interests of consumers. The markets for alternative fuels – including heating oil, coal, Liquified Petroleum Gas (LPG), and biomass – benefit from a large range of suppliers in an open market. The off-grid fuel market does not share the same characteristics as the Gas and Electricity market which is regulated and capped by Ofgem.</p> |
