<p>DFID has an operational plan for Nepal which commits up to £331 million of UK official development assistance during the period 2011-15. This operational plan is available on the DFID website.</p><p>DFID's assistance to Nepal is set around four pillars which we believe are critical to secure long-term peace and development: (1) Governance and Security; (2) Inclusive Wealth Creation; (3) Service Delivery (Health, Education and Water and Sanitation); and (4) Disaster and Climate Change Resilience.</p><p>In 2010-11 DFID disbursed £57.8 million of bilateral development assistance to Nepal. In 2011-12 DFID's disbursement was £62.2 million. In 2012-13 DFID plans to disburse £55 million.</p><p>By 2015 the UK's development assistance, in partnership with the Government of Nepal, will have created 230,000 jobs; lifted 570,000 people out of poverty; averted 108,000 unintended pregnancies, ensured 110,000 people benefit from safe latrines and will have made 4 million people better able to cope with natural disasters.</p> |
