<p>DFID provides a voluntary core contribution of £10 million a year to UN Women. It has provided just under £1 million in transitional funding to UN Women to assist with its creation from the four</p><p><?notus-xml column=154?></p><p>agencies which were merged. In addition, DFID provides a voluntary non-core contribution of £3.25 million over three years to a UN Women project on women, peace and security.</p><p>DFID has also seconded a senior DFID member of staff to work for UN Women for two years. We provide further support as an executive board member and on discussions regarding results and value for money. DFID was critical in creating UN Women and is supporting the agency to be successful in improving the impact of the UN system's collective efforts to achieve gender equality and women's empowerment.</p>
