<p>The Government will deliver a four year programme to mark the centenary focused around the themes of remembrance, youth and education. We will lead the nation in appropriate acts of remembrance and support learning, community and cultural projects through a package of over £50 million funded activity.</p><p>On a local level, Lincolnshire County Council has been awarded a grant of £74,800, which will enable people to explore and research the stories behind the names commemorated on their local war memorials and the effects of the conflict on local communities. In addition, we will be commemorating Victoria Cross recipients with specially commissioned paving stones, which will be laid in the home towns of all those awarded the Victoria Cross. Lincolnshire, as home to Victoria Cross recipients, will be able to commemorate their fallen with a permanent memorial and legacy for the community.</p> |
