	answer text	[holding answer 13 December 2010]: Current Ministers have not authorised any detentions of children in immigration removal centres beyond 28 days. The Government are committed to ending the detention of children for immigration purposes and a review is currently under way to consider how this can be done in a way which protects the welfare of children and ensures that families with no right to be in the UK leave. The Government will make an announcement before the House rises for Christmas on our plans for doing this.
