§ The Minister for Crime Reduction, Policing and Community Safety (Ms Hazel Blears)I have today placed in the Library of the House copies of the final report of the "Independent Review of the Selection and Appointments Process of Independent Members of Police Authorities", undertaken on behalf of the Home Secretary by Mr. Kenneth Hamer.
This report makes a range of recommendations to improve the selection and appointments process to key posts in police authorities, highlighting the need to engage local people and the importance of police authorities continuing to develop effective links with other community groups.
