HC Deb 08 January 2003 vol 397 cc274-5WS
Chris Grayling

To ask the Secretary of State for Health how many people have had operations cancelled on more than two occasions in each of the past three years. [88769]

Mr. Hutton

Figures are collected on a quarterly basis on the number of patients whose operations are cancelled by the hospital for non-clinical reasons on the day of surgery and at the last minute, that is on the day patients are due to arrive or after arrival in hospital or on the day of their operation. This information is available in the Library and on the Department of Health website at: www.doh.gov.uk/hospitalactivity/ data requests/cancelled operations.htm

These figures are not broken down to show whether a patient has been cancelled by the hospital more than once.
