The Strategy Unit's report "In Demand, Adult Skills in the 21st Century—part 2" has today been published as a report of the Government.

The report, commissioned by the Prime Minister, sets out a detailed and long-term plan for improving the productivity of the UK through raising skills levels in the workforce.

It focuses on the government's strategy for Raising demand from employers and individuals, providing access to good quality information and advice and supporting those who find it the most difficult to access development to meet their needs, particularly small businesses and individuals with lower skill levels. Improving the quality and responsiveness of training to make sure it meets the needs of employers and individuals. Providing a government framework of qualifications and accountabilities that supports development to support higher productivity and keep pace with industrial change.

The report also sets out who is responsible for delivering the improvements, how progress will be monitored and how success will be evaluated.
