§ Baroness Symons of Vernham DeanThe Government support this recommendation from the recent United Nations high-level panel report and regularly urge all chemical weapons possessor states to meet their chemical weapons convention obligations. We are committed to providing practical assistance to help states meet and better the 2012 deadline. For example, we continue to provide assistance towards Russia's destruction programme, in particular at the Shchuch'ye chemical weapon destruction facility.
