To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer what measures the Government are taking to ensure increased employment and productivity in the UK. [189564]

Mr. Timms

The Government is committed to raising the rate of UK productivity growth. The Government's approach is set out in "Productivity in the UK: The Evidence and the Government's Approach" (published alongside the 2000 Pre-Budget Report).

The Government's strategy for ensuring employment opportunity for all has been set out in successive Budget and Pre-Budget reports.

The Government reports on steps to increase productivity and employment in every Budget and Pre-Budget Report.
