HC Deb 14 September 2004 vol 424 cc1507-8W
Bob Spink

To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer what the latest available 12 month figures are for the proportion of the Department's redundant documentation, waste paper and card that is recycled; and if he will make a statement on the Department's recycling policy. [188687]

Mr. Timms

It is the policy of the Treasury to recycle all waste paper and card. The figures for the period 1 September 2003 to 31 August 2004 were 160,820 kg of paper, and 10,420 kg of cardboard.

1An FCE is defined as a period of admitted patient care under one consultant within one healthcare provider. The figures do not represent the number of patients, as a person may have more than one episode of care within a year.
2 These figures represent a count of all FCEs where the diagnosis was mentioned in any of the 14 (7 prior to 2002–03) diagnosis fields in a Hospital Episodes Statistics record.
3 International Classification of Diseases Tenth Revision (ICD-10) code F50
4Figures are grossed for coverage, except for 2002/03 which are not yet adjusted for shortfalls.
