§ Mr. IngramTraining provided to the Royal Military Police on the Human Rights Act relates directly to the exercise of their powers of arrest, search and seizure etc., as members of the service police. These powers, applicable only in relation to persons who are subject to the Service Disciplinary Acts, are exercisable wherever the RMP serve, whether at home or abroad.
During 2000, all RMP units received training on the implications of the Human Rights Act 1998, and changes in RMP arrest and custody procedures. Individuals joining the RMP since October 2000 have covered the same subject during their basic training, which includes relevant European Court of Justice (Strasbourg) Case Law.
