§ Lord McIntosh of HaringeyThe bid for the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games has had no bearing on the publication of crime figures, sports-related data or indeed any official statistics. All government departments follow the National Statistics Code of Practice. Among the code's requirements are high standards of integrity, inlcuding:
- that the practices and production of national statistics are free from political involvement,
- that data are released as soon as is practicable, and
- that the timing of releases is announced well in advance by publication on the national statistics website.
