HL Deb 16 November 2004 vol 666 c152WA
Baroness Miller of Chilthorne Domer

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What action they will take following the publication of the results of the Danish part or the Interphone study, which investigated the links between tumour risk and mobile phone use and concluded that the average size of tumours was significantly higher for regular users than for nonusers. [HL4835]

Lord Warner

The Interphone study is a 13-nation international collaborative study of brain tumours, acoustic neuroma and parotid gland tumours in relation to mobile phone use due to report next year. Two of the participating research teams have already published reports on acoustic neuroma data only: a Danish study in January 2004 and a Swedish study in October 2004. These publications will contribute to the strength of the overall study and emphasise the need to continue such research. A World Health Organisation assessment of the full Interphone study and associated research is currently under way and is due in 2006.
