§ Lord BachTraining exercises can take a multitude of guises. Using the measurement of man training days (MTDs) to give an idea of the scale of training on private land, in 2003–404 some 700,000 MTDs were recorded for such training. No comparable figure is held for training world-wide by the three services and it is not therefore possible to say what proportion of overall military training this represents.
