Mr. Stephen O'Brien

To ask the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry what has been the research and development spending per capita in each UK region in each of the last six years. [174695]

Spending on research and development is tracked regionally through a series of ONS surveys of private business, central Government and higher education establishments. Figures on research and development spending per capita in each UK region in each of the last six years is on the following table.

Spending on research and development is tracked regionally through a series of ONS surveys of private business, central government and higher education establishments. Figures available for the last six years are provided in Tables 1, 2 and 3.
