What was the cost of producing the Northern Ireland Prison Service's corporate plan and business plan on CD-ROM; and how this compares with the cost of printing and distributing a similar number of paper copies. [HL2832]

For several years the Northern Ireland Prison Service has produced its corporate and business plan and annual report and accounts in an e-card format, reducing the number of hard copies to be printed.

This year we printed 300 hard copies of the 2004–07 corporate plan at £8.50 per copy. This compares with a unit cost of £4.50 for producing 600 copies of the same report in an e-card format¹.

The majority of our distribution list for this publication now receive the report in an e-card format.
