asked Her Majesty's Government:

On the basis of the most recently available statistics, how many self-invested pension plans there are; what are their mean and median net assets; and how many assets there are in the following ranges:

  1. (a) under £100,000;
  2. (b) £100,000 to £199,999;
  3. (c) £200,000 to £299,999;
  4. (d) £300,000 to £399,999;
  5. (e) £400,000 to £499,999;
  6. (f) £500,000 to £749,999;
  7. (g) £750,000 to £999,999;
  8. (h) £1,000,000 to £1,499,999;
  9. (i) £1,500,000 to £1,999,999; and
  10. (j) £2,000,000 and over. [HL2706]

The Government do not collect separate statistics on the number of assets of self-invested personal pensions (SIPPs). SIPPs are included with insured personal pensions in Inland Revenue tax relief statistics.
