§ 25. Mrs. HumbleTo ask the Minister for the Cabinet Office what action is being taken to ensure that people with disabilities are represented throughout the civil service. [173518]
§ Mr. WoolasThe Government remain committed to increased representation of disabled people in the civil service. Current figures show that 4.3 per cent. of civil servants have declared a disability, including 1.7 per cent. of those at senior civil service level. We have set a target of 3.0 per cent. for disabled staff at senior civil service level by April 2005.
Action to increase representation of disabled people includes a bursary scheme for disabled staff with high potential and a summer placement scheme to encourage disabled applicants to the graduate fast stream.
