Whether the published views of Mr Matt Cavanagh, special adviser to the Home Secretary, that race and sex discrimination may be "rational" and questioning the desirability of the antidiscrimination legation, represents the views of the Government. [HL2217]

Neither the Government nor anyone working closely for us condone any form of unlawful race or sex discrimination. We are committed to enforcing, and where appropriate, extending anti-discrimination legislation (as in the case of the Race Relations Amendment Act 2000).
