HL Deb 11 May 2004 vol 661 c32WA
Baroness Masham of Ilton

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether there are medical liaison physicians for each surgical directorate in National Health Service hospitals, especially for patients over 65, to advise on peri-operative care. [HL2574]

Lord Warner

Information about the number of medical liaison practitioners employed in rational Health Service hospitals is not collected centrally. Individual trusts are best placed to determine what staff they need, and in what roles, in order to ensure the delivery of high quality, effective care that best meets the needs of their local populations.
