HL Deb 30 March 2004 vol 659 cc146-7WA
Lord Jopling

asked Her Majesty's Government:

How many of each category of medical staff (including doctors, nurses, ambulance staff) have been vaccinated for smallpox, so as to enable them to deal with a terrorist attack. [HL2155]

Lord Warner

A total of 283 people in England have been vaccinated against smallpox as part of our contingency planning. Of these people: 140 are doctors, 123 are nurses, 18 are scientists, and two are from other occupations. The vaccination programme is ongoing, and the vaccination of ambulance workers will begin shortly.
