To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer how many people have died in the winter months in each of the council wards of Liverpool in each of the last 10 years. [162565]

Letter from Len Cook to Mrs. Louise Ellman, dated 22 March 2004: As National Statistician I have been asked to reply to your recent question asking how many people have died in the winter months in each of the council wards of Liverpool over each of the last 10 years. (162565) Figures are presented for the winter months (December to March) in each year from 1993–94 to 2001–02 in the attached table. The latest year for which data are available is 2002. Numbers of deaths occurring in each winter before 1993 are not readily available at ward level and could only be produced at disproportionate cost.
