To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what the timetable is for the establishment of the National Offender Management Service. [162535]

An implementation team has been established and preparations for a detailed programme of work is under way.

The National Offender Management Service will come into being from 1 June 2004 and it is anticipated that all the necessary changes will have been implemented within five years.
